Usually, there’s a common way in a company to measure user activity. For Uber, it could be the number of trips/month, for Youtube number of videos watched/month. Even further – different teams have different metrics for it: a marketing team would measure the number of signups/purchases and ROI, a product team would measure the number of books read in a month, a search team would measure the number of books found via search and then read.
