53. Listing distinct book categories with DISTINCT

The local book store partnership seemed like a very great idea – use a selection of book categories to reach out to a certain audience.

Let’s explore which categories (genres) do we have in Bindle’s library. Maybe we can spot some new bundles and could come up with more partnerships.

Our current SQL toolbox allows us to select genre for each book:

SELECT genre FROM books 

As you can see there’re a lot of repetitive genres. What we want is a list of unique or distinct genres:

SELECT DISTINCT genre FROM books ORDER BY genre
