71. Monthly and yearly timelines

Monthly timelines can help us plan the year and keep track of the company progress. If we set a goal to earn 100M this year, it’s better to know that we’re on the wrong track after the first month (in case revenue is far below 8M) rather than in December.

Yearly timelines can help us prepare for raising VC funds or when we’re getting nostalgic 🍸

In the previous lesson we’ve learned about DATE_TRUNC('datepart', timestamp) function. That’s all we need to create monthly or yearly timelines, we just need to specify ‘month’ or ‘year’ as datepart:
