267. Numeric functions

Let’s review all the scalar functions from the course that deal with numbers (and a little more):

1. RANDOM()

The RANDOM() function returns a random float number between 0 and 1:

SELECT RANDOM() 

We can use to get random records sample with ORDER BY RANDOM().

2. ROUND(number, precision = 0)

The ROUND() function takes two arguments – a number and how many float digits we want to have:

SELECT ROUND(3.141592654, 3) 

We use ROUND() to avoid numbers like 43.33333333333 in the query result (it really makes the result unreadable + when dealing with...
