137. Building web funnels based on events

In this lesson let’s take a closer look at funnels within one page. We’ve already talked about that pageviews alone allow us to reconstruct flows on the website (thanks to referer URL). Events allow us to look inside the page and add a couple of steps to the funnel.

The latter is a very important analytics technique. If we have a bad performing funnel like visit page A and then signed up – we can’t really know what causes it. If we add events we can make this funnel something like:

  • visit page A
  • scroll to the signup button
  • clicked on the signup...
